Our Child Psychology services include helping children, adolescents and young people who have difficulties with their emotional or behavioural wellbeing.

This may involve individually tailored sessions with your child, or working with parents and carers, offering support and guidance to better understand your child’s difficulties and ways in which you can help.

Being a parent herself, Emma has a good awareness of the challenges children and young people, and their parents or carers, can experience.

Parents are often seen on their own prior to the child’s first session. This enables us to obtain the background to the problem and a detailed history.

Depending on the age and presentation of the child, your child will either be seen with you or on their own.

Most commonly, particularly with younger children, you will be invited to the first and last 5 to 10 minutes of the session. With the child present we give the parent a summary of the session and details of any therapy based homework that may be required. Children usually really like this part of the session as they get to show their work to their parents and tell them about everything they learnt.
